Our 8th birthday, our final underwear

My beloved,

I've started this letter in my head a million times. The long and short of it: La Vie en Orange is closing at the end of the month.

What that means for you: you have 2 more weeks to place orders, ask for repairs on previous orders, reach out about that custom order you've been dreaming about or finally take the plunge for the first time.

This April marks 8 years of making underwear for people that aren't me. I don't make this decision lightly. Hours of tears.

You have meant so much to me, and being a part of your life has changed mine irrevocably. You have made me a better person: more confident and less scared to have opinions or rock the boat, more affirmed in my voice and its value, a better artist, more honed at my craft, a cis advocate for the trans community, less ableist and more intersectionally feminist and more body positive. I am so grateful to have gotten to know you through your orders and comments and emails and I love you.

Groundhog Day Eve & Return of the Mack. Naturally.

It's been a minute! I hope this finds you well and wearing your most comfy undies.

Things have been quiet around La Vie en Orange, but as you might remember Groundhog Day is my favorite holiday (it's just so random and ridiculous), so this seemed like the perfect time to come out of my proverbial hole and say hello.

The last year has been a roller coaster, and I've missed you. I hope you haven't missed me- that you've been enjoying undies that fit well and make you feel great, and that this hello feels like a long lost friend.

Owning a business is hard. I took a big risk in 2016 and it didn't pay off.

2017's butt looks fantastic!

Whoa. 2017 got off to an amazing start in this neck of the woods.

Right after the New Year, Startup Fashion founder Nicole Giordiano mentioned us as a "sustainable fashion project to watch in 2017" on the Factory 45 blog. It was huge and awesome, and all kinds of happy dance inspiring. Startup Fashion is a online community of fashion business owners while Factory 45 is a sustainable fashion business incubator.

Then, the Factory 45 post got picked up by the Huffington Post, and all of a sudden we were getting traffic from HuffPo! All in the first week of January while I was still living in my pajamas every day, taking some time to be with family over the holidays.

And so, happy New Year to you too ;) I'm a firm believer that late January isn't too late for Happy New Year wishing.

Thank you so much for your support in 2016. Thank you for allowing us in your pants. It's the reason we're here, and it's the only way we get to stick around. Clearly, we wouldn't be on this wild underwear world domination quest without you. ;) And we wouldn't want to do it without you.
