Whew!

Whew!  After raising money for my day job non-profit org auctioning off some custom sewing (in my wedding dress!), I couldn't even stop to change before diving into some data entry with Z!  Anything for a good cause!  :) "

Dear Readers, My week has been delightful and draining.

Friday (for my day job), I put on my non-profit's biggest fundraiser of the year and helped raise almost $90k! It has left me exhausted, but excited that it's over and that I have my life back. :)

I've spent my recovery time this week on the couch dreaming about all the exciting things I have planned for business this summer:  Men's briefs, then boxers, toddler undies, women's briefs (and maybe thongs?) and transgender men undies.  Maybe in that order.  :)

Recovery time has also been spent on an obscene number of hours of New Girl, The Office, Glee, and GCB. Seriously shameless. :) In my defense, I was too tired to even nap out in the sun on my balcony. That's how I know it's bad :)

I saw this tutorial on "What is Etsy?" from Indie Maven, and had an "Ah Ha!" moment. Of course!

What is Etsy? :) Andrea does a great job walking us through it!

At La Vie en Orange, I've loved making these tutorials on reading a home sewing pattern and sewing a straight line, but I'd love to hear about what you're looking for?

Why do you swing by?

Please comment below. In upcoming posts, I'm excited to explore my product pricing, more on sustainability, whatever inspiration or silliness moves me, and upcoming new product lines... :) (Check out those links for previous posts on similar topics :))

What do you think?  I'd love to hear- please comment below!  I'll see you there :) xoxo

I just love the picture of you still furiously working in your wedding dress! It was a much needed smile! I can’t wait to hear more about your product lines and how they develop. Your creativity and open mind is obvious when you speak about them. You have taken this in a direction that most would not have dared to go and good for you for doing so!! It is a very simple approach that is so easy for us “not high fashion” people to relate to. Can’t wait to read more. :)

I’d like a tutorial (for very very beginners) on how to thread a bobbin. I have a brand new sewing machine and can’t even figure out step one.

Yay! Thank you for stopping by, Andrea! :) And thanks for your tutorial ideas- I was thinking about a summer sewing tutorial series. That would play right in! My wheels are turning- stay tuned! And thank you again :)

Thanks for checking out my Etsy tutorial! I’m glad it was helpful :) I would love a tutorial on mending…I get holes in a lot of my clothes (especially my shirts) and when I go to mend them, I can never decide the best way to do it – sew vertically or horizontally, which kind of stitch to use, how tight or loose to make the seams, how many seams I need…. I’d love to learn some sort of rhyme or reason :) Can’t wait to see the things in store for your site/product this summer!
